Fourth Child

Written by Anakin McFly

The door of Jaina’s room swung open and her twin brother, Jacen Solo, entered. Turning to his sister, he grinned, his brown eyes lit up with excitement. He closed the door gently, then walked over to her, where she was working on… whatever she was working on.

“So how was it?” Jaina asked, her voice muffled slightly from under the piles of scrap material.

“It’s a boy,” Jacen replied, trying to get a look at his sister. “And Dad said that you could choose his name this time.”

Jaina poked her head out from the entrance of the small spacecraft she was trying to repair and smiled. “Oh. Okay… I’ve thought of one…”

One hour later…

Leia Organa Solo looked down at the eager faces of her children and turned back to her husband, standing beside her. “Well, what do you think?”

Han remained silent for a while, his face creased into a slight frown before finally speaking. “It’s… okay, I guess. But can’t you think of something e…” He stopped in mid-sentence as his wife threw him a gentle glare.

“You told Jaina she could choose. You can’t go back on that now.”

Han Solo sighed, giving up. He stood and moved over to his three children, each watching him intently, waiting for an answer.

“Fine,” he said, noting the sighs of relief that escaped the twins and Anakin at the sound of his approval. “Go ahead, I don’t mind. Not much, anyway.” Han grinned and ruffled his youngest son’s hair, and the boy smiled back up in return. “Anyway, I’ve got to go now. See you guys later.”

Han then walked off and left the room, turning the name of his future son over in his head.

Bengawan. Bengawan Solo.

Then again, he supposed, it could have been worse.
