Reeves chills out on the ice

by Alan Peppard

Actor Keanu Reeves (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Parenthood, Speed) was a sort of Renaissance dude flexing his many skills during a weekend visit to Dallas.

The merriment began Friday night at Deep Ellum Live, where Keanu's band, Dogstar, was the headlining act. When not starring in Hollywood flicks, Keanu plays bass with fellow Dogstarmen Gregg Miller, Bret Domrose and Rob Mailhouse.

But when it comes to post-show recreation, Keanu is not your typical Cuervo 'n' groupies rock star wannabe.

No, he's more of a hockey 'n' groupies rock star wannabe.

After the show, Keanu and the band cruised over to Stars Center at Valley Ranch and took to the ice at the Dallas Stars headquarters for a pick-up hockey game.

Keanu traded in his bass for a goalie's stick and guarded his net vigorously as some raucous female companions cheered from off the ice.

The group and some Stars Center employees played on until 4 a.m
