A black day for Keanu

Sydney's adopted Hollywood celebrity, Keanu Reeves flew out yesterday after a seven month sojourn filming the sci-fi thriller Matrix.

Clad completely in black right down to the the sunnies and surgically-attached beanie (albeit with souvenir kangaroo emblem), Reeves made a low-key departure from his base at the luxury Quay West Apartments in The Rocks.

Looking thin and pale, Sydney's favourite man of mystery was accompanied by two minders keen to shield the star of Speed and Point Break from any unwanted attention. "He's very tired. He's worked 90 hours the past four days," one minder told us.

But he confirmed Reeves had enjoyed his stay in Australia. WhiIe in our midst Reeves slipped comfortably into the local scene, spotted at various watering holes around the inner city since his arrival in February.

And yesterday with his feet on the ground Reeves checked out shortly after 2pm. before shaking hands with staff members and heading to the airport with two suitcases and his beloved bass guitar.

We hear the occasional rock star may be popping into Colorado this weekend for a gig with his grunge music outfit, Dogstar.
