Matrix Success Spawns Sequels
Shooting straight in at number one in the US box office over the Easter weekend, wiping out its closest competition, the new Keanu Reeves film, The Matrix, is causing such a stir in the states that already - despite its release only last week - two sequels are in the works.
Written and directed by brothers Larry and Andy Wachowski, the futuristic techno-thriller is getting rave reviews for its use of new visual technology which has stunned the audiences thus far and will no doubt continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Now the Wachowskis are working on two sequels, according to producer Joel Silver, who said of the projects, "They are complex stories that take place in the future but are told in the present."
