Reeves Loads 'Shooter'
Keanu Reeves may have found his next project, but his dreams of starring in The X-Men and Lord of the Rings seemingly remain unanswered. Variety tips that The Matrix star will rake in a career high $15M to play master sniper Bobby Lee Swaggart in Paramount's Shooter.
The film's script from Nick Kazan (Bicentennial Man) follows sniper Swaggart as he comes out of a self-imposed exile in the hills of Arkansas brought on by accusations that he practiced his trade on an innocent bystander. When Swaggart comes out of hiding, he is betrayed and is once again hunted for murder. Filming is expected to begin later this year after Reeves completes work on the football movie The Replacements. This would seem to further rule out any possibility of Reeves starring in The X-Men film, which is reportedly set to shoot in July.
