Get Ready to Rock With Keanu Reeves and Dogstar Exclusively On the Independent Film Channel
IFC Presents Annual "Indie Rocks" Festival With 12 Rockin' Titles November 24 Through December 1
BETH PAGE, N.Y.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Nov. 07, 2000-- After you're done stuffing your face with turkey this Thanksgiving, tune into The Independent Film Channel (IFC) for its annual ``Indie Rocks'' festival, hosted by Keanu Reeves and his band Dogstar. Shot on location in Los Angeles, IFC captures the band on tour, promoting their latest album, Happy Ending.
Dogstar was formed in 1990 by Reeves, who serves as the band's bassist, along with vocalist/guitarist Bret Domrose and drummer Rob Mailhouse. In addition to releasing their first album, Our Little Visionary (1996) and touring the U.S and Europe, Dogstar landed a cameo performance in the Easy Rider-esque indie Me and Will, with Patrick Dempsey. In between touring, writing and recording new songs, drummer Mailhouse also dabbles in acting. His resume includes guest appearances on several TV shows, including Seinfeld, Caroline in the City and Dharma & Greg, and numerous feature films, such as Speed (with bandmate Reeves) and The Glimmer Man. Before starring as the bullet-dodging frontman in the futuristic thriller The Matrix, Reeves starred in indie faves such as River's Edge, Permanent Record, My Own Private Idaho and Even Cow Girls Get the Blues with Uma Thurman.
This year's rockin' line up includes an array of indie films with stellar soundtracks including The Who's Tommy, David Lynch's Lost Highway and Jim Jarmusch's Year of the Horse, a documentary about Neil Young and his 1996 Crazy Horse tour. Beginning Friday, November 24 and continuing each night through Sunday, December 1, IFC's "Indie Rocks" festival is scheduled to air as follows:
