Keanu Reeves Says Bill & Ted 3 is "Closer... But Not Closer"
by Chris Tilly
Exactly a year ago IGN travelled to Fantastic Fest to interview Keanu Reeves and inevitably, talk turned to Bill & Ted 3, with the actor revealing that there’s a good story in place, with the filmmakers now busy “trying to find the dough.”
Exactly 12 months on we travelled back to Austin to again interview the star, and we asked him if they are any closer to getting the sequel made.
“We’re closer, but no closer” he explained. “It’s really amazing how that can work. We’re like closer to the dough, but not closer. We’re closer to the script but we’re not closer. We’re closer, but we’re not closer. But we’re still trying to get close to be… there.”
Guess that means they are closer. Kind of. Reeves then discussed the pickle that Bill & Ted find them in at the start of the film, having failed to write the song that will save humanity…
“They had the obligation. The challenge. The responsibility. The burden of finding this song that was going to bring peace and harmony to the world. They’ve lost sight of their family and relationships with their children and their wives and the rest of their lives. They’re in danger of losing everything because of this responsibility that they feel. They can’t write the song.”
So here’s hoping that Reeves and co can get the money together to make the movie so we can find out just how they go about writing that song.
