Deauville Film Fest Pays Homage to Keanu Reeves

by Elsa Keslassy

The Deauville American Film Festival is set to pay homage to American star Keanu Reeves during its 41st edition which is set to take place Sept.4-14.

As part of the tribute, Deauville will host a retrospective of Reeves’s most popular movies.

“Forever Neo from ‘Matrix,’ Jonathan Harker in ‘Dracula’ or Le Chevalier Danceny in ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ Keanu Reeves has demonstrated his ability to take on extremely varied roles during his long and impressive movie career. He has worked with directors such as Gus Van Sant, Francis Ford Coppola, Bernardo Bertolucci and more recently Richard Linklater,” the festival said.

Reeves, who will be present in Deauville, made his directorial debut on Chinese/U.S. co-production “Man of Tai Chi,” a martial arts drama inspired by the life of stuntman Tiger Chen that came out in 2013.

Reeves’s next pic, Eli Roth’s “Knock Knock,” which premiered at Sundance, will be released in France on Sept. 23. The actor will have a busy 2016 with movies such Nicolas Winding Refn’s “The Neon Demon.”

As previously announced, Deauville will also pay tribute to Terrence Malick along with the French premiere of “Knight of Cups.” A retrospective including “To the Wonder” and “The Tree of Life” will be hosted.

Deauville, whose jury will this year be presided over by French vet helmer Benoit Jacquot, is set to open with Balthasar Kormakur’s “Everest” and close with Denis Villeneuve’s “Sicario.”

Haven't visited WINM for some time, so I'm a bit behind on Keane movie news. Can anyone enlighten me about the dates of U.S. releases of Daughter of God and two others whose titles I forget, one a courtroom drama set in New Orleans, the other a t.v. series about an assassin? Forgive my faulty memory, please. Suffering from post-Wick KR withdrawal.

That's Keanu, not Keane, of course.
