Sounds Like Life is Imitating Art on Bill and Ted 3
by Chris Tilly
Writers taking time with "actualisation" of concept.
We’re still no closer to Bill and Ted 3 happening, with the script failing to materialise, a bit like the song that the story apparently revolves around.
When I asked Keanu Reeves about the long-gestating sequel back in October 2014, he said “we’re closer, but we’re not closer.” Then I pushed him on the subject in April 2015, and his update was "We're closer, we're closer."
However, when I spoke to him again a couple of weeks ago, he reverted to that original response, saying “That’s still true – we’re closer and we’re not closer. We’re expecting another draft and hopefully we’ll get closer.”
Reeves revealed that he’s still enthusiastic about the concept – which concerns Bill and Ted struggling to write the song that brings peace and harmony to the world – but added that they are now taking their time with “the actualisation of that concept.”
Which sounds a lot like life imitating art.
“We’re just trying to get the script together” he added. “We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture. We’re really just still trying to get the story right.
So there you have it – Bill and Ted 3 – closer, but not closer.
