THE CHARACTERS

Here lies our analyses of the various characters Keanu has played. This part of the site has several functions:

1) To try and put to rest once and for all the folks who keep insisting that all of Keanu's forty-plus characters are exactly the same, because they're not.

2) To do likewise to the folks who insist that Keanu never gives any thought to the characters he plays and simply stands there reciting lines. Co-stars and others who have worked with Keanu have reported him going very dilligently through each script and scribbling out huge stacks of notes about his characters that put their own meagre research to shame. This section shows some of those notes and proves that Keanu does think a lot about this. A hell lot, especially with regards to John Constantine, no bad pun intended. That thing is practically essay length.

2) To draw some attention to the fact that the writers of the movies he acted in had as much to do with the characters - if not more so - than he did, and slamming his performances as all alike is not only an insult to Keanu, but to those writers as well. Which isn't fair to them. And people wonder why there was a strike.

3) To show off our awesome character analysis skills. Most of those from us were written based solely off Keanu's screen performances and what he conveyed about the character through them. I recently added in the stuff that Keanu himself has said about his characters during interviews and such, and - most excellently - a lot of it very closely matches what we came up with prior to reading all that. We are awesome. And so is Keanu, for this shows that he managed to successfully bring across a certain portrayal of his characters to the audience. And we got it. That's good acting. And we are still awesome. *high fives the rest of Keanu SWAT Team*
