Give the online media 50 more seconds of film and a slightly differently edited trailer, and hey-ho, here we go...

http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/finish-him-new-international-trailer-for-keanu-reeves-man-of-tai-chi-20130612
essentially, it boils down to: awesome fights, everything else terrible. [...] Lots of kicking and punching and rooms designed by zen surrealists. It all looks pretty awful, but maybe the action will be decent?
1 minute 50 something seconds from a 90 minutes movie, and they've decided it looks 'terrible' and 'pretty awful'.
I wonder if these guys play the stock market and if they do, how much they win. monthly ;)

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/06/12/second-longer-trailer-for-keanu-reeves-man-of-tai-chi-and-lots-of-bonus-videos/
That seems to be at its best when its taking place in more or less featureless rooms. Perhaps Reeves should have just made a martial arts version of Cube or Exam and been done with it.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Keanu-Reeves-Man-Tai-Chi-Trailer-Looks-Like-Fight-Club-Meets-Matrix-38033.html
The look of Man of Tai Chi is impressive, Reeves giving scenes a futuristic hint while also suggesting danger and darkness.

http://au.businessinsider.com/keanu-reeves-man-of-tai-chi-trailer-2013-6
Keanu Reeves, who knows kung fu, is making his return to the big screen by directing and starring in a pretty righteous-looking martial arts movie about tai chi.
It's called "Man of Tai Chi," and the trailer is blindingly cool for those of us predisposed to unapologetic action movies.

According to the synopsis from IMDB, the movie is about what happens when "a young martial artist's skill places him in position to experience opportunities and sacrifices." Translation: it's a supercharged cinema explosion to watch and squeal through.

Stop everything and watch the trailer below.

http://www.firstshowing.net/2013/new-man-of-tai-chi-international-trailer-from-director-keanu-reeves/
[...]the film feels like a combination of Gamer and Mortal Kombat. That may not get you interested in the film, but Reeves certainly has some style behind the camera, even if his acting in the film seems to be a little over the top.

http://www.indiewire.com/article/watch-keanu-reeves-steps-behind-the-camera-then-kicks-it-for-new-man-of-tai-chi-trailer
If hate-watching has a chance of crossing over from television to movies, Keanu Reeves's directorial debut may be just the film to bridge the gap. The new international trailer for "Man of Tai Chi" looks like it has everything his fans want — lots of "Matrix"-y fighting — and critics don't — limited range in facial expression.

The film stars Reeves as the underworld leader of an extreme fight club in Beijing who recruits a young martial artist played by Tiger Hu Chen (Reeves' martial arts trainer for "The Matrix") to fight for him. Yet something gets in the way of this seemingly solid partnership seeing as the trailer ends with Reeves growling "You owe me a life," before attacking his one-time protege. It's a fight we're dying to see in a premise we're already hoping to forget. But hey, you never know. Maybe Reeves has a knack for storytelling and "Man of Tai Chi" will make us all forget about "The Matrix Revolutions."

(... couldn't resist. had to post a comment :| )

http://www.quietearth.us/articles/2013/06/Second-MAN-OF-TAI-CHI-Trailer-Is-Keanu-Reeves-Heavy
The new trailer doesn't feature a lot of new footage but the editing makes it feel like a a movie with a story rather than just a collection of awesome action sequences, though there's certainly a nice look at those as well.
... and story is a bad thing, apparently?
*rolls eyes*

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/whoa-new-trailer-for-keanu-reeves-man-of-tai-chi
Overall, this looks like a lot of fun. If you asked me back during his BILL AND TED days if I thought Keanu Reeves would ever be an action star, let alone be directing a martial arts movie I'd probably have laughed it off, but it seems that the actor is full of surprises. Based on the trailer, this looks like a solid fight flick, which benefits greatly from all the talent involved.

http://iwatchstuff.com/2013/06/man-of-tai-chi-trailer-oh-keanu-reeves-m.php

http://screenrant.com/man-tai-chi-movie-trailer-keanu-reeves/
The previously-released Man of Tai Chi international trailer highlighted the fighting and action sequences, but this new preview also outlines the story with greater detail (perhaps too much detail, in fact). No surprise, the martial art combat scenes look to feature excellent choreography – courtesy of master stunt coordinator Woo-ping Yuen (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill, etc.) – and nice-and-clean cinematography, thanks to Elliot Davis (The Iron Lady).

Unfortunately, the fact that Man of Tai Chi was scripted by someone who (partly) comes from a video game background seems to show, in a bad way; that is, with regard to the plot (which appears to be a series of "boss fights") and even lines of dialogue like Reeves shouting "Finish him!" a la Mortal Kombat-style. Similarly, while it's a refreshing change of pace to see Reeves play the antagonist, his presence seems a bit lacking in trailer footage. [Insert your Keanu Reeves acting joke of choice here.]

Keanu Reeves never went crazy with power after The Matrix. He’s mostly done a movie every once in a while, and a number of those have been indie films. It seems he’s become more interested in getting behind the camera. Recently he was involved in a documentary, and now we have a trailer for his directing debut Man of Tai Chi. In it he knows kung fu, but not in a nice way.

and I left the best for last: ladies and gentlemen, yet another reddit thread

I love the reddit thread. :D though I got derailed for a bit to argue on a subthread about Lana Wachowski because someone was making very weird statements about trans people. It's harder to argue when they sort of know what they're talking about, but still get stuff woefully wrong, as opposed to when they're flat-out ignorant. >_>

collected comments from around the place:

Outlander: Soooo that’s what Neo has been up too, and here I thought he sacrafised himself for man, no…he’s staging unsanctioned MMA matches.

Rock Gnarly: I once saw Keanu devour a younger actor whole, maybe that has something to do with his longevity.

coming to us from an alternate universe:
Patrick: Keanu Reeves is of Japanese - Hawaiian descent, mother is Asian and Father is White.

Zlurpo: I've always had a strange fascination with watching people scream "Who Am I?" from building rooftops, so Jackie Chan is pretty much the only movie star I like.

and lastly:

Tyler AitchKay: Keanu stop it with all the puns, IWSwriter? before everyone reeves your site

Just saw Keanu reeve's directorial debut man of tai chi. It's action sequences are awesome but it's strength comes from its emotion
