What happened to the blue feather chair that was supposed to be Donaka's chair? I can't find the pic anywhere in this thread either. Seems to have disappeared here and in the movie. :)

C'mon... it was too much, even for Donaka ;)

Totally unrelated - or not- they better release the MOTC soundtrack on CD/iTunes, OR ELSE. :|

@LucaM totally agree it was wrong for the movie. And that crescent shaped couch was so very right. I would like that soundtrack too.

... he chose the production design people wisely. there's such an attention to detail... it's beautiful to watch. From wardrobe colors for each character coordinated with the progression of the story/evolution of the character to tongue-in-cheek references to other movies or to real places...

I know what you mean LucaM, but if "they" gave similar compliments to the Matrix movies it`s even more than a compliment. It`s a kind of appreciation of Keanu`s work.
I had no time to read any reviews, but I will do now ...

For the genre of film that he's taken on, I think Keanu Reeves has shown himself to be a good director. Not for an actor, or for a Hollywood man, but a good director, period.

Thank you for the links !

" I think Man of Taichi might become a cult martial arts classic talked about and recommended to friends for years."

That sounds quite promising. The reviews are full of praise. Fantastic.

Yes indeed and now we are seeing. :O)
I think this film could be the beginning of another great career:
Keanu Reeves the DIRECTOR,wouldn`t that be great?

I have not the right at all, but I´m proud of Keanu. Well done.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/china-box-office-earth-opens-585252

Keanu Reeves’ Man of Tai Chi is spiraling quickly into oblivion just ten days into its run: the film, bankrolled partly by the state-owned China Film Group, grossed just $1.38 million (850 million yuan) last week, less than the $1.8 million (11 million yuan) haul of the Sylvester Stallone-starring Snitch, which only opened on Wednesday.

Reeves' directorial debut has now grossed a total $4.2 million (26 million yuan), but with its shows plummeting to less than 2 percent of total screenings in the country, an upsurge is near impossible. Radius has pledged to release the film in the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2013.

:-(

I'd like to see the official source for those figures, because obvious gloating aside, Mr.Tsui had effed up the previous box office report...

Later edit : well, here are the official results.
http://english.entgroup.cn/boxoffice/cn/

take a look at the screen numbers, folks. Limited release, Mr.Tsui.

Keanu Reeves' directorial debut, Man of Tai Chi, will have its U.S. premiere at the Austin, Texas, festival, which runs Sept. 19-26 at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline.

Reeves will attend the event to present his film, which chronicles the life of a young martial artist who becomes a part of an underground fight club. Reeves also stars in the film, which will be released in North America by Radius-TWC, the Weinstein Company's boutique label.
