Not that it means anything at all but I did see The Last Exorcism and apparently at that time I gave it only 1 out of 5 stars and I usually only go less than 2 when it pisses me off. I glimpsed Hostel and knew it was too ick. And I am not seeing Inglorious Bastards and no one can make me change my mind about that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eli_Roth

Is it just me or does he sound kinda horrible?

Yeah...I haven't read the link but people either like or detest Eli Roth, personally no matter what they think of his work. I've always been ambivalent towards him.

He never really made it to my radar before BUT I am pretty thrilled that he got Keanu to do this kind of a role. And that's about as much decorum as I can muster...

@ LucaM and Anakin, Yes to each their own tastes and preferences however, nothing Reeves has ever done gets up to the sheer human wreckage of Tarantino's movies. So if you made it through them you'll make it through any of Keanu's movies just fine. :)

:D

But as I said, I'm generally fine with violence and/or gore. I've been desensitized by too many video games. It's sexual horror that makes me want to stay far, far away, and it sounds like this movie might go there.

and ahaha Eli Roth. yepp. I first knew him as the creepier version of Zachary Quinto. They have the same eyebrows. :|

The most positive thing I can say about Roth is that I like his honesty: he's very frank about what he does and who he is. He's also spoken about his dislike for the fan-celebrity barrier, saying that he doesn't think celebrities should be put on a pedestal because they're just regular people who happened to get famous. He'd rather interact with fans on equal footing.

...and omg, LucaM. His brothers' names are Adam and Gabriel. >_>

An interview with Roth.
I don't know, he doesn't seem like a horrible person... More like an enthusiastic college student XD He's also very honest and genuine about what he does, so I give him cred for that. :)
Oh, and the teddy bear in the video - LOL!

@ Anakin, Just a reminder that Tarantino has a fair amount of sexual horror/violence in his movies. Like me you might be blocking it. And if you can make it through that you can make it through anything that Reeves will do. I don't want to repost the horrors in Tarantino movies but I think we know what I am speaking about.
I am considerably more interested in what kind of effect Reeves' will have on Roth's ideas about film making than I am about Roth. And as always I am hopeful that the fans will support Keanu's work. We are fortunate that he does a broad variety of situations. And damn, the universe heard me for Knock Knock. ;)

@becauseichooseto22, thanks for posting that interview with Roth. Feeling Keanu dug that enthusiasm too. Could be a big reason he was on board for such a "different" role.

lol LucaM. I am wondering where I am going to put this movie on my personal list of Keanu favs. I'm feeling it will be below the trilogy but above MoTC? Eh, it's not even filmed yet. So many things could happen not least of which could be creative differences. We shall see.

Well, it's hard to outdo The Matrix Trilogy! :D
Wish, they made more movies like that, though... Getting sick of dumb, predictable Marvel superhero movies :/

Thank you for saying that, Anakin. It needed to be said. The phrase "terrible, unspeakable things" is being used often.

Consider that this sort of thing is, um, problematic if not traumatic for anyone who has suffered most any kind of abuse. There's a difference, a freaking big one, between not "supporting Keanu's choices" and consciously not going places that could be personally harmful. There are people who might have trouble with the seppuku scenes in 47 Ronin. I don't think it's helpful to judge that as not being supportive.
"The problem is choice."

I would think no less of Keanu for doing what he chooses. I would be surprised, I guess, if it goes that far, but it is his choice. I think at this point that it could either be a really interesting film or something on which I choose to take a pass. And that will be my choice. I won't judge others' choices and I'd like the same consideration.

Nah, he's chill. :D

@ARYA - yeah, good point. Though I don't seem to have watched that many of Tarantino's films, so I might have just been lucky so far.

That's how it should be. People are people, in the end. ;)

...admittedly, that was partly in the context of him asking why people made such a huge fuss about celebrities flirting excessively with their fans. :|

Agree MmeRenard, we all have trauma's we are working out. And seeing Keanu's movies will help with that more than hinder. When I think of the huge amount of crap the average person willingly subjects themselves to, in the movies, or TV it boggles my mind that anything in Keanu's filmography would be exclusionary. At least for those over 17 years old.
