JOHN WICK?

2014-10-08 00:14

As for The Watcher - well truth is it makes me wince. The scene mentioned above of him dancing round candles and dancing etc. is the apex of what is wrong with this film.

Agreed you shouldn't have gone wrong with this cast - but it did. It makes me wince because there was sooooo much potential for something really creepy. The way Keanu portrayed Griffen as shall we say "a shark that smiles" is spot on. People forget that Ted Bundy was a charmer just like Griffen.

JOHN WICK?

I have watched Dracula more than once. Unfortunately it is not Keanu's best performance but I give him credit for trying. (personally I think it was a maturity issue I had with both Winnona and Keanu - they seemed impossibly young for their characters).

No the reason I watch is because I just adore the scene in the garden maze with Lucy. People forget this won an Oscar for costume design. Eiko Ishioka had a mesmirizing career and many of the costumes are very "spiritual" and interesting.

It also reminds me (that same scene) of the movie "The Hunger". First time I ever saw a screen credit for "Curtain Director".

Not to worry I am on the side of "content" "story" based movies. I live in a very conservative city and films that are even close to art aren't shown here. Blockbusters will be shown in ten theaters. You would think that a smaller indie film could be in one of them. But I keep hunting. it gets hard though because most times I just have to wait for dvd or digital.

As far as Keanu goes, I have always held the belief that he gets bored easily especially with very superficial stuff. So I always look forward to his films because I find them interesting. I so loved 47 Ronin. I am looking forward to April for the DVD release. I am hoping for maybe a directors cut.

Point taken. I just wanted to show that somebody - critic wise is hoping for the best for Keanu's future. Not many do that, in fact many have written him off - critic wise.

I just don't want critics to see him as "only" a block buster actor. I don't think any one could re-produce the affect the matrix had. But they keep trying. Like it was easy. Explains a lot about cinema these days.

New article featuring a focus on the Matrix and the impact it made on Hollywood. Nothing new in the article really, but some good vibes towards Keanu.

The one that was really hard for me was mentioned earlier "We need to talk about Kevin". I kept saying watching this was were is the Dad? Where is his Dad? and then of course you don't find out till the end....

I love Keanu when he has WTF kinda moments, so I would be tempted to do a very black comedy (satire etc.) of Joseph G-L showing up on his doorstep as his son from an affair as a teenager. The two of them side by side deadpanning it would really crack me up.

Of course the nay sayers would then look on it as the "deadwood duo". "Sigh".....

In fact the character played by Natalie Portman I felt was a much better performance and believable performance than her Oscar winning performance in Black Swan.

Hesher is a very slim and trim bare bones kinda movie. Very Indie. But with a very valid point. It takes on a subject very few films have attempted to do. It takes on the idea of grief from a child's point of view and the complexities as seen through a child's eyes. And no, it isn't for everyone because this is not nice neat and tidy. Life is messy and this movie shows the bleak reality of a horrid situation for a kid.

You see Luca - there is method to my madness!

But seriously - look at them side by side then see mannerisms and it is like Joseph is the son of Keanu. No wonder I like them both. To this day Hesher cracks me up in a bizzarre way.

As far as 50 it isn't anything to be scared of - in fact it is something to be proud of. He has had so many accomplishments I believe he will have many more in his 50's.

Another film coming that has peaked my interest especially for sci fi fans is a movie called "Branded". I don't know too much about it yet but it does look interesting and appeals to my sense of rebellion :)

I am and have been on a Joseph Gordon Levitt kick for a while so I am looking forward to Looper. Interesting weird note I always thought Joseph would be an excellent pick for Keanu as a movie "son" if required. However most movie people have Keanu still in his 20's and therefor the idea of him having a 20 something son is impossible - even though Keanu is coming up on 50.

I have been waiting for this movie for forever and I haven't had such a really good vibe about a film in a really long time. Release date says October so I am very excited.

Disney scares me - especially now that it is trying to take over the world.
