Lake House, The (2006) – 2017-03-16 12:59:57
It was cute

It is always a treat to see Sandra and Keanu together. They both barely age, and look great together ("SanNu" anyone? okay no...just me? my bad).

It is a really cute love story that allows you to see two people get together despite the fact that they years away from each other.

I'd recommend it to someone to watch, even though there are some things I'd point out...

I don't really see how the two characters fell into such trust and like of each other so quickly. Sandra's character seemed more wooden, or maybe disinterested, than other performances I've seen in her work. There are moments where I don't believe Keanu's acting. The time travel thing is a little difficult to chill with, because of the plot holes it creates, but that's always a risk with time travel.

mad cool

I dig this movie. The comedic timing from Diane Keaton, and Jack Nicholson is of course expert level. The secondary characters are somewhat interesting in their own right.

I love Keanu's performance as Dr. Mercer. I sort of wish there was an epilogue telling us that he at least finds some fun in Paris. He exuded an easy charm in this performance. Mad cool.

I didn't question for a second that Mercer and Erica really had an attraction to each other.

Hollywood Get on That

This movie was surprisingly funny, I honestly thought it wouldn't be.
If you saw any of Key and Peele's work on Comedy Central, you'd like this. If you never saw their T.V. Sketches, you'd still get a good understanding of their humor.

Keanu in "Keanu" was such a nice treat. I now wish that there was an entire movie with Keanu voicing one of the characters. Hollywood get on that?

One could watch this once or twice.

A good popcorn movie.

As this movie was based off of a well known passed down story, I didn't like how it was executed. If it were just a story written up for a move, and had no cultural background, it would have been better in my eyes. Even I (an American female, with no known ties to Japanese culture) knew of this story since perhaps High School, which was about 11 years ago.

Keanu shows a pretty decent amount of skill in the style of acting that is required of someone in this type of film. What I noticed about Japanese movies is that even when the movie is an action, there's a soulful nuance in the performance. Every expression, every movement has meaning.

The romance angle was nice (while not entirely unexpected.), and who doesn't like to see Keanu play a character who's in love?

This is a good popcorn movie.

Ugh

This a rare thing, that I liked Keanu's acting, but hated the movie. This one is to watch once, and pretty much keep moving after that. I ended up not really caring about any character, and some of the humor was too heavy (almost saying "hey get it. huh huh? huh?").
