ADMIN  Forum Posts: 3074 Comments: 405 Reviews: 1 | To make the domain name worth it... - Don't think there'll be much point in trying to keep up with news and all that, since the other Keanu sites already have that well covered and there's no point just repeating stuff... - Trying to have it more of a fan-community-run site than anything else, where fans (and maybe the occasional fish, to keep this balanced) can just contribute material and have it appear on here. Attempting to focus on original content over stuff that can be gotten anywhere else: I thought that maybe a section of the site can be devoted to any articles that people wish to send in, the only criteria being that it's Keanu-related, English-language, coherent (no buzeeworkerant), and they have written it themselves, rather than just stolen it off some website. Would like to have this be completely free of moderation - such that, say, lflipout can write a whole essay on her gay theory and have it appear there, or a fish can write a whole essay on why they think Keanu sucks, and people who disagree can write counter-essays, and so on. Sort of have a free-flow of opinions either way without the stupid censorship of IMDb. Free speech ftw. Although there is a risk that it might get out of hand. Then there's other kinds of original content that can be linked to - fanfic, fanart, fanvids, although a scary majority of that might be porn; currently I don't think there's any Keanu site that does this. - thus aim to have WINM be a sort of portal site, since I doubt it can compete in other areas. So like the screencaps resource list thing; could link to, say, all the scripts of his films available online. More suggestions?  | ||

Agreed with that.
For discussion, opinions and stuff?  Perhaps the site could be divided in to two major areas, one for Site Purpose (the all defending Mr. Reeves thing, with Quotes, Wall of Shame, etc.) and another one for Community (with blog, link to this forum...)
This could be interesting... It can cause some mess in the future, though, as we can see over on IMDB.
I don't know about the fanart thing, though... not only because of the porn, but also because of quality standards: lousy writing/drawing/etc, corny/ridiculous/offensive content, its all bound to happen, and that would decrease the value of the site. Hate to sound this elitist, but I think this should be taken in to account.

(Note to self: Learn to recognise Keanu's voice. My father once managed to watch most of The Lake House without me noticing until I recognised the music in the credits. )Yeah, good point... I was thinking of making a sort of online fanzine thing like the ones fandoms used to have prior to the Internets, but the fandom isn't big enough.  People might get insulted if they send in lots of stuff and none of it ever appears, which doesn't happen in really huge fandoms like Star Wars and Harry Potter.Unless we start a mailing list, and regularly compile all the news from all the other fansites and e-mail it to lazy people who can't be bothered to check all of them out. Sad thing is that I'm one of those lazy people who can't be bothered to check all of them out. And we could make and sell T-shirts. There needs to be something to counter the fish-made ones that go 'Keanu should play Gort!' and things like that. And then we will have money and people could be paid to go around compiling all the news from other fansites and e-mailing it out. And if I major in Communications & New Media and learn how to make computer games, we can have games! That can be played for points! That can be used to buy food for real!Neopets!  | ||
