I like the idea of having a thread where people can share their favourite music and thoughts on whatever music comes to their mind.

My recent obsession would be Tears For Fears. They've been around for a while, but during the last couple of months I have grown rather fond of them. They seem clever and naive at the same time. Favourite songs would be Pale Shelter, The Hurting, Suffer The Children, Advice For The Young At Heart and the more famous Head Over Heels, Sowing The Seeds Of Love, Shout and Mad World. They're quite fun. So that's that.

The months before mainly consisted of The Dandy Warhols' first two albums. Good stuff.

Other bands I listen to at the moment would be U2, Led Zeppelin, occasionally Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Beck and Spiritualized.

An album I currently enjoy is Echo And The Bunnymen's self-titled album.

In general, I can say that I listen to a lot of British music and some Irish and American.

I also thought of making a last.fm thread, but that might be too specific. I like the idea of having a general thread, so no one is too restricted. Here's my last.fm profile anyway: http://www.last.fm/user/Colin_in_Mexico

Dig this idea! Love "Pale Shelter" too, BTW, and was lucky enough to see BRMC when they hit New York in...hmmm...2009, I think? I remember my sinuses getting pretty messed up from all the dry ice! :-D And Peter Hayes crooned a "Love Me Tender" that made my tummy wobble. "Weapon of Choice" nearly brought the house down with the frenzy it stoked, and my fave, "Love Burns," was *le awesome*. Great, great show.

I found this 80s alt rock/new wave/goth page on Facebook and folks post vids from these oldies, so I'm revisiting a lot of stuff I hadn't thought about in a looooong time. Also rediscovered stuff I thought was lost to me forever ('cause I might've taped a tune off the radio and never bought it, you know?). Like this song, "On the Trail," by an LA band called "The Prime Movers" - I just remembered a few snatches of the lyrics but didn't know the song or band's name, and it's haunted me for YEARS until I recently found it! http://www.myspace.com/primemovers/music/songs/on-the-trail-24113384

I also learned, via this FB page, about this really great alternative/new wave online radio station, "Decadence Radio," out of Houston, TX, and have been listening to it a lot: http://decadenceradio.com/Home_Page.php They're also available on the Live365 Web site.

Oh, yeah - The Dandy Warhols! Their tune "Bohemian Like You" always reminds me of Keanu, as it was featured in "The Replacements." Which actually is a bit strange...wasn't it set in the 80s (but that song came out in the 90s)?

I don't know too much about Waits although I enjoyed his work casually my whole life. I do know about Leonard Cohen having watched I'm Your Man many times and there is much about his life in that movie. Have you seen it Luca?

You are ahead of me on reading his novels. I didn't even know he wrote any.

I was just listening to above song Like the way and thought that it would make a nice soundtrack to a fan-vid of Keanu bits. "I like the way you move" ;-).
If you like it you can download it for free at Soundcloud BTW.
