-right smack in the middle of the time when my family has dinner with my grandparents.

If we're going over to their house, we usually have the TV on after dinner and I might be able to catch about an hour or so of the middle of the film. If we go to a restaurant, then, well.

Taping it sounds desperate.

No, noooo! It's NOT desperate! It's normal and GOOD to tape it! Especially if you have never seen it? (Was this one of the Keanu classics you have yet to see?)

Taping is NOT desperate - but what would you say to someone who OWNS this movie on dvd and yet will watch it on the telly, putting up with the ads and all, just to help it with ratings???

Yep, haven't seen it. Well probably parts of it long ago when I was like four years old, but that doesn't count.

Meanwhile I'm not the one in charge of taping stuff. My father mans the DVD recorder and is the only person allowed to touch it, so I'll have to go "uh, Speed is showing on Saturday, can you tape it for me?" despite cooping up in my room writing Matrix fanfic those two times when Speed was on TV and the rest of the family was watching it. ninja.gif

...I don't think that helps ratings. I thought ratings were done by taking a random sample of the population and then extrapolating from there?

Next Saturday. Still don't know what the dinner plans are; sometimes we just stay at home and have dinner on our own, whereupon we can watch TV.

I have no idea how ratings are rated. But it makes me feel like I'm doing my bit by supporting any Keanu related goodies on the telly. For instance, I put up with Sweet Nov the other night for Keanu's sake wacko.gif

'kay, I managed to catch the last hour.

It has dodgy picture quality for a 1990s film.

*shakes head* Jan de Bont wouldn't like to read this...

please keep in mind that almost all of the scenes were shot 'in motion' .
it's not called 'Speed' for nothing...

besides, it's an 'early 90's' film...

The film just looked kind of grainy, and this was supposedly high definition to boot.

The early 90s thing is no excuse. Back to the Future was shot in 1985 and had much better quality, and five years after Speed, The Matrix came out and that had really good video quality.

maybe it was just a dodgy copy that the TV company didn't look after properly
