Wasn't he thinking of selling his website?

I wonder what happened to that?

And I don't want to know how you found out that info. Anakin.

Yeah... last I heard, someone made an offer for $10,000 and were trying to raise the money. But meanwhile he seems uncontactable. keanugirl76 tried e-mailing him and got no reply; I tried to, same result.

And I don't want to know how you found out that info. Anakin.

Type in 'merlin' and 'keanuweb' into Google search. First link.

I think nobody has bought the website up to now

And, yes, the minimum price asked by Merlin was $10,000. Once I proposed to make a collection, but the sum was really too high to be easily reached with a small amount of money from each of us.

Moreover, when Merlin closed it, he told me that he could keep on managing it only at a professional level, which meant that someone else should buy the site and then pay him to help with it.

Ani, you can always try and send a 'traditional old-fashioned' letter.
you never know...

Yeah, I was thinking of a traditional letter. Mostly I just want to find out what Kweb has - number of articles, pictures, videos, etc. I think they have more articles than WINM.

And $10k is a lot. Although membership fees were $6/month; how many paying members were there?

So what would the person who pays do with the site if he continues to manage the bulk of it?

I think the idea is that Merlin needed a full-time job, and that prevented him from also managing the site. and probably decided to close down the site instead of making a hack job of managing it...
in Merlin's own words, he needed to 'put food on the table'.

so maybe his offer meant that he would be paid for managing the site, as if it were a full-time job... that could have settled both issues...

just my opinion, of course.

Anakin, living in the Netherlands as I do, I can see that that is his cellphone number. Personally, I think that that is TMI. If all kinds of people start to call him, he has to change his number, and imho he shouldn't have to do that. Regardless of the way Keanuweb came to an end and the goodies that lay still in store there, Merlin has done an awful lot for Keanu fandom in the eleven (I think) years that he ran Keanuweb. So, could you remove his cell number? Thanks!

Removed. Though it's still publicly available online, as are my own details for WINM. It's this stupid thing that requires you to pay if you don't want your contacts on the web.

He ran it for 14 years.

Thanks Anakin Although technically it was none of my business really; I have this unfortunate tendency to stick my nose where it doesn't belong. I'm working on it...

That's strange, that you have to pay if you don't want your stats on the web, didn't know that.
