...by Philip K. Dick. Keanu's said it's his favourite PKD work, and that he wants to act in that if they ever do a film.

Not sure which character he wants to play, though, because there are several protagonists in there. :\ Meanwhile I can't really see how it would work on screen.

Anyone else read the book?

I haven't, but Apprentice is probably in the middle of it..

Speaking of, wonder who on earth you could be talking about here???

{{and next to that, a stack of notebooks and stationery for those who like taking notes.}}

ahem... I have absolutely no idea whatsoever whom Ani's talking about.
*hides notebook and pen behind her back*

and yes, I read the book. Twice.

what character he wants to play ? Barney Mayerson, of course ! how's that for typecasting ? :D But Palmer Eldritch would be an interesting character to play...especially since the two characters interact quite a lot. ;)
and come to think of it, Bulero would be an against-the-stereotype choice...
but the one character who seems most like Dick's 'alter ego' here is Mayerson. or maybe he and Bulero are both his alter egos. and Eldritch is their counterpart...
*shrugs* this novel has always puzzled me.
but if I were to play a RPG, I'd choose Mayerson.

not sure how it would work on screen either, but if anything, please, please, not CGI. rotoscoping would look a thousand times better. and yes, I know it's been done already. but it fits the PKD atmosphere so well...

anyway, from what I've read in one of Linklater's interviews, the rights for this book are already bought, so who knows ? I just hope whoever makes that movie will stay true to the story. And please, God, don't let it be Spielberg. :(

Maybe he could play Mayerson and Eldritch... :|

I didn't get the ending of the book. What exactly happened? It sort of cut off in the middle of nowhere.

IMDb has no listing for the film yet, though.

<< Maybe he could play Mayerson and Eldritch... :|>>

considering they swap bodies during the story... he could :D

it's an ambiguous, open ending. Mayerson decides not to touch Chrew-Z again, and so reducing Eldritch's chances of 'spreading'. It's his penance, sort of. While Bulero will continue to 'fight' Eldritch, openly. But we're not given a definitive answer, so we might as well expect the worst. Or hope ;)

I like open endings :D
there's always another universe ( or time line) where you could get things right ;)

Linklater mentioned only that the rights for this book have already been bought by someone else. There's no indication of a movie being in project somewhere.
At least the story's safe for now :D
