Forum Posts: 1364 Comments: 153 Reviews: 0 | @Arya No, I didn't send the articles to Keanuweb. I have no history with Keanuweb, so for me it suffices to post the links here for my fellow WINMers. If Ani finds them add-worthy to the WINM archive, she'll add them. :-)
Also, here's another article about the Keanu/Akira rumour: http://www.slashfilm.com/latest-akira-rumor-keanu-reeves-play-kaneda/#more-102916

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | With KEANU REEVES written all over that script, is it possible that they make a script revision for each actor that is being considered for the part? Or for each actor that expresses interest in the part? I had an idea there was one script and those actors that were deemed appropriate would read that and then there were revisions based on the actor casted.

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | @inkhuldra (aka "that one nite stand RP had"...hehehehe) Keanuweb is on my daily cyber tour of Keanu sites. Merlins got a cool twitter app up now with one of your retweets.

Forum Posts: 1364 Comments: 153 Reviews: 0 | I think they put the actors' names as a watermark on the script so that, if the script happens to get out to the general public, the movie company will know who "leaked" it.
Pretty smart, really. Inexpensive insurance!

other hypothesis about the role of keanu in this movie production:

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | Insurance? Could be. I'm not feeling the production idea. What I am feeling is that Reeves getting a copy of the script might play a part in the negotiations of other things, maybe even getting Cowboy Bebop to wake up? He is a chess player afterall...

...what happened to Cowboy Bebop anyway?

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | @tangerine, the latest he said was that the budget was too high for the studios to accept. And he was thinking he was getting too old to play Spike. But now I hear the role for him in Akira is a teenager originally? It's all speculation at this point. Speculation and rumor.

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | ... currently reading the comics. watched the anime film several years ago. I can 'see' the movie, BUT. the 'main' characters are 15 years old biker teenagers. Kaneda is the gang leader - whom Reeves could play just fine, only he's not 15 years anymore (thank all Gods). so either Warner does a complete rewrite, AND loses the title 'Akira', in which case the movie could possibly work , or... they'll get hell from fanboys and everyone else and their dogs. or better, make the movie with lesser known actors who'll fit the age range. Frankly, this is one project that would be better left alone. why oh why won't Warner make Constantine 2 instead ?

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/movie-news/keanu-reeves-in-early-talks-for-akira.php For the film adaptation of Akira, the setting has changed from the futuristic Neo-Tokyo to a ‘rebuilt’ New Manhatten with the idea of Hollywoodising and watering down the themes and turning it into a PG-13 rated fare aimed at American audiences (though they have kept the same monikers, weird!). Steve Kloves, writer of the last seven Harry Potter movies, was brought in to re-draft the screenplay in February. oh, fer fucks sake... New Manhattan I can live with, but the PG-13 rating... NO. Just NO.
