there's another here http://ezna-daniayasmine.blogspot.com/2011/03/ai-in-beijing.html (see day 4)

do you think Keanu knows that?

if he doesn't and didn't give his permission, the thing is quite illegal...

This is one of the wackiest things I have seen. If they sold Keanu memorabilia maybe, but it looks like an ordinary, run-of-the mill clothing store. Is there anyone from China here on this site who could explain the reasoning behind naming the store as such? I do also wonder about the legality of it.

...Whoa.

I'm not sure if it's possible to trademark a name, though, so it might not be illegal... :\\

EDIT: yeah, it could potentially be trademarked, but I don't think Keanu has done that.

Yes, the name could be trademarked, the matter is who trademarks the name. if the regitraction is made by the owner it is ok, but if a third part trademarkes someone's name, we'll have the problem of the possible state of uncertainty and the induction to mistake by the costumers.
we could have 2 possible situations: 1) someone who not is named keanu reeves trademarks the name, the real person called keanu reeves sues and win because it is his name ( it's the same for the notorius nickname) and the regitration makes damnages to him, to his image and honor and to the costumers for fraud. 2) another keanu reeves trademarks his own name. conseguence: he surely could do but he plays with the famous omonymous and makes uncertainty. the most famous could sue and win the royalties of registrations and the use of the name, plus a riparation of damnages. there's a famous case about the domain name in itarnet that saw involved the famous designer Giorgio Armani and a stamp seller called Luca Armani for the registrion of the name Armani.it, in that time in Italy we haven't a regulation for the domain names on internet so the judges applied the law of the trademarkes and the image's damages besides the consumerism laws. the verdict was: Giorgio Armani is more famous and the use of the name is his because the use could made uncetainty and fraud for the costumers and an unlawful damnages to G.A. and a undue gain to L.A.. http://www.interlex.it/nomiadom/r_manno3.htm
I don't know the chinese laws about trademarks, everybody of us could say what is the regulation in our country...but as I know there are international agreements of trademarks form the first the Paris Convention
for the Protection of Industrial Property of 1883 to the Common Regulations under the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks in force from 01/01/2012.

Those two shops not only uses Keanu's name, but they use the same font, etc. So maybe it's even a chain of "Keanu Reeves" shops?

i hate idea name a shop after keanu reeves
im thinking keanu would find it hurtful or think there is a different person with his name that the chain of shops was named after
speaking of strange laws in australia its not illegal to name a shop after yourself if you are the owner of that shop
