Fundamental Films, Keanu Reeves Revving 'Rally Car' For China Shoot

EXCLUSIVE: Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in Rally Car, playing an American race car driver in what is envisioned as The Cannonball Run set in China. It's being backed by Fundamental Films. The script was written by Jeremy Lott. He scripted Hood, the Robin Hood pic that Sony Pictures paid $1 million to buy, and which has Jerry Bruckheimer aboard to produce with Adam Goldworm. They are getting close to a director, and I'm told this is real.
Fundamental’s China base makes this a picture ripe to be a Chinese co-production, which is advantageous in many ways including getting the movie played in China and realizing a more favorable theatrical split. Reeves, who's coming off the irresistible action revenge film John Wick, next will be seen in the Eli Roth-directed thriller Knock Knock. A sequel to John Wick is mobilizing as well. Action on this one will heat up during AFM. Reeves is repped by CAA; Lott, who is rewriting Man At Arms for Jonathan Liebesman to direct, is CAA, Aperture Entertainment and attorney Gregory Slewett.

The Sun helps star prepare for rally movie

HERE’S Keanu Reeves having a most excellent adventure  . . .  with The Sun.

The Hollywood legend joined me for a balls-out rally ride at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

(Imagine the insurance claim had I stuffed it.)

Then he revealed it was a taster for his next movie called RALLY CAR.

Keanu, also tipped to make a third Bill & Ted, said: “That was awesome. Wow! I need to take a course and start learning how to do that.

“I like the idea of sliding around, letting the back end go, counter-steering, coming around the turn, getting on the gas, going over a jump. It’s a lot of fun.”

Keanu had no qualms about being thrown around a muddy forest in a pucker 4WD Ford Fiesta Super 2000.

As we crossed the finish line, he beamed: “Yeah! That’s intense. Good job, man. Well done.”

Me: “I can see a grin. Do you fancy a go?”

Keanu: “No!”

The Speed/Point Break/Matrix/John Wick star will play a washed-up NASCAR champ in Rally Car.

Keanu said: “He’s kinda like Han Solo meets Jimmy Connors. He’s a charming guy but he’s being phased out.

“His career is going down, they suspend him, he’s divorced, he has no money — but he loves to win.

“So he gets this offer to go to China to run this super rally car race that does dirt and tarmac and he goes over there and he learns some life lessons.

“It’s a family movie with some exciting driving, hopefully.

“We’ve got a director, now we’ve got to find the money to make it.”
