I'm really, really, really glad Keanu is getting good to excellent reviews again; I'm really happy that he is the center of an original franchise. BUT. it's thinking like that behind this article which will pigeonhole him again. the action movie star with no dialogue just grunts and gunshots. yadda, yadda. He's only as bankable as his last movie (to quote the Esquire interview). It's all box office and 'tomatoes' - and Lionsgate's need for a new franchise (after they milked all they could and then some from Hunger Games and the Allegiant something). And yes, I'm glad and grateful Lionsgate distributed the 'smaller' KR movies, and that they bought now Rally Car for US distribution... BUT. some of Keanu's best performances in the last years, IMO, are in movies the tomatoes didn't agree with. Like 47 Ronin. or TDTESS, which was less than the sum of its parts, which is flawed, but when watching it, I couldn't joke anymore about Keanu being 'an anthropologist from Mars'. He WAS alien. Or Generation Um, which didn't even register on the tomatoes' radar, but which I love, love, love, and then some. Movie and performances. Or Keanu's rant in Knock, Knock... Or Scanner Darkly, the ending of which still makes me cry. Apparently the tomatoes agree on this one, it's 69%, dude ! :| Anyway. Seems like the show business world is making him again walk that thin line between action movie star and actor.... some things never change. But luckily, some things do.

I agreed with my friend to meet next Sunday for brunch and afterwards John Wick. This evening on my way home I pass by the cinema and asked for the new program starting Thursday. The guy a clever seller, asks which movie I'm interested in - and suggests tonight's surprise preview. | ||
