That, and also because - as far as I understood from the Architect's speech - it was the Oracle's idea to allow for the small percent of rebels to leave the Matrix; and apparently she created the possibility for the 'anomaly' to emerge. But that also means creating Smith as the anomaly's counterpart. Therefore, she IS both Neo and Smith's mother -so to speak.

Thanks guys!
I sort of just thought that since Smith... uh, swallowed Sati, she was probably speaking through him? Since the Oracle sort of adopted Sati. And the Oracle was speaking through Smith when Smith called Neo 'Neo' instead of Mr. Anderson, and one of the Smiths said "cookes need love like everything does", so maybe Sati was doing that too. :/

you're right, the Smith that said "cookies need love like everything does" was Sati - but now inside a Smith clone. Or rather, her memories were now available to all Smith clones.
However, the Smith that talked to the Oracle was the 'original' one. Or at least that's how I understood the scene.

Anyone ever heard about how the Matrix script was supposedly based in part on an 80s manuscript, "The Third Eye", by Sophia Stewart? It seems that while some sources claim that she's won an infringement case, others report this to be a rumour.

Black Author wins The Matrix Copyright Infringement Case.
-This little known story has met a just conclusion, as Sophia Stewart, African American author of The Matrix will finally receive her just due from the copyright infringement of her original work!!!
-Monday, October 4th 2004 ended a six-year dispute involving Sophia Stewart, the Wachowski Brothers, Joel Silver and Warner Brothers. Stewart’s allegations, involving copyright infringement and racketeering, were received and acknowledged by the Central District of California, Judge Margaret Morrow residing. Stewart, a New Yorker who has resided in Salt Lake City for the past five years, will recover damages from the films, The Matrix I, II and III, as well as The Terminator and its sequels. She will soon receive one of the biggest payoffs in the history of Hollywood, as the gross receipts of both films and their sequels total over 2.5 billion dollars. Stewart filed her case in 1999, after viewing the Matrix, which she felt had been based on her manuscript , “The Third Eye,” copyrighted in 1981.
-In the mid-eighties Stewart had submitted her manuscript to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers, requesting new sci-fi works. According to court documentation, an FBI investigation discovered that more than thirty minutes had been edited from the original film, in an attempt to avoid penalties for copyright infringement. The investigation also stated that “credible witnesses employed at Warner Brothers came forward, claiming that the executives and lawyers had full knowledge that the work in question did not belong to the Wachowski Brothers.”
-These witnesses claimed to have seen Stewart’s original work and that it had been “often used during pre preparation of the motion pictures.” The defendants tried, on several occasions, to have Stewart’s case dismissed, without success. Stewart has confronted skepticism on all sides, much of which comes from Matrix fans, who are strangely loyal to the Wachowski Brothers. One on-line forum, entitled Matrix Explained has an entire section devoted to Stewart. Some who have researched her history and writings are open to her story. Others are suspicious and mocking. “It doesn’t bother me,” said Stewart in a phone interview last week, “I always knew what was true.”

No wonder they were having a hard time finding someone who were willing to take on the role of Neo:

I really wish someone had told me that the Matrix Online game had ended BEFORE I had gotten the CD-ROM. It would have saved me a lot of money....

I just viewed Hardboiled that released in 1993-4 and I saw a lot of Matrix like scenes. I can well believe that the W bros borrowed ideas from many sources. Look at Avatar. It's totally loaded with Revolutions. I often think of Coppola's
advice from his dad, "Steal from the best".

Really? I had a perfect score. I guessed on the one about the previous incarnation of the One... but how is the Merovingian the previous incarnation of Neo? :/

XD " What visions does Neo have throughout The Matrix Reloaded?"
D) Rufus's time traveling phone booth

"What visions does Neo have throughout The Matrix Revolutions?"
D) A city bus that will explode if it goes too slowly

Meanwhile...
Ted: "Hey Bill, do you ever feel that the world we're living in is actually a most excellent computer system created by some totally heinous machines to imprison our minds so the totally heinous machines can use our body energy?"
Bill: "No, dude."
Ted: "Oh."

Tangerine - I think it's Persephone who hints at the fact that the Merovinginan is one of the previous incarnations of The One. "A long time ago, when we came here, it was so different. He was so different. He was like you...[Neo]". But Seraph could have been a previous incarnation too ; depends on how you 'read' the movies.

I missed the one about the year in the real world. I mean, I know what Morpheus said, but the Architect said that there had been six incarnations of the Matrix, so....

oh, but we don't know who much any of the Matrix versions lasted.
and even what Morpheus said is only an approximation.
anyway... it's the only figure given within the trilogy, so I chose that answer.

Yeah... you have a point, Spark. I mean, since Zion was technically supposed to be part of a system of control, maybe each One who chose the right door was supposed to tell the newly freed dudes that it was around 2199, when in reality this has been going on for a few centuries.

Oh yeah btw... LucaM, I saw the reviews you posted for Reloaded and Rev, thanks for sharing! I like Brian's interpretation and stick with his ideas on the movie. :)
