You can grab a bottle of wine. Pour a glass and type your perspective here? I am curious to hear others view on the quote! Not a debate or anything just reflective???

Forum Posts: 1101 Comments: 48 Reviews: 0 | What's the matter with a civil debate? I respect others' opinions and their right to them whether I agree or not. I don't think the quote means that good and evil are nonexistent or irrelevant. I think the Matrix trilogy explored all of this better than any film I know. Light contains darkness. Darkness contains light.

Forum Posts: 146 Comments: 7 Reviews: 0 | Hmmm, I think life is about balance. I also believe you wouldn't know light without darkness they need each other in order to exist at all. I wouldn't say they are irrelevant but to look and see past both would be pretty cool. How good is good if bad has to be acknowledged? Both have no power to the wise is my thought.

Forum Posts: 1101 Comments: 48 Reviews: 0 | So when the Dalai Lama speaks about cultivating a good heart, is that not wise? Seeing what evil (yes evil) that humans are capable of and not wanting to do that, that's unwise? Is working for the good of all beings, insofar as possible, unwise? I don't think so. The fact that none of us are perfect doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to be decent people. Perhaps I am misunderstanding, and I do not want to argue, but I think it's hard to see an aspiration of compassion and loving kindness as somehow in evolved.

Forum Posts: 146 Comments: 7 Reviews: 0 | I said both have no power over the wise, that's my opinion...so far anyways. To me I have to ask can you get addicted to being "Happy" always pushing mad emotions away? It's exhausting !!! To me I would think the wise would see past the illusion and just be. That's where I want to go ...not seeking perfection but just chilling and being at peace . I am not saying you don't follow your heart and passion but to not allow the duality to control you. It's not like I am there it's just what I think.... Until I shift and something else clicks. Lol.

Forum Posts: 1101 Comments: 48 Reviews: 0 | It is quite easy to disagree without being disagreeable. It's possible (though NPR has forgotten this) to debate without being disagreeable. It is only necessary to respect each other's opinions. I think that Anakin, as the admin, is perfectly capable of deciding if discussion has gotten out of hand. Our current culture sees everything that is not in lock step as the Enemy, but that is just not true. Adults can disagree without disrespect.

When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it's their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don't be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are." Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

Forum Posts: 1101 Comments: 48 Reviews: 0 | NPR has a debate show after noon, maybe 1 pm, but every time I hear it, the " debaters" are actually arguing and being rather nasty to one another. Not how I understand debating - you make a point and use reason to defend it, without emotion. Given what goes on with talk radio etc, the culture acts like disagreement is the same as dislike. I don't get that. It's as if the whole culture had borderline personality disorder. Gah.
I think opinion is even more casual. I've got opinions, I expect everyone to have an opinion which may or may not be the same. I have good friends who don't "get" Keanu, and that's OK. They're wrong, of course...
