I've viewed a fair amount of flicks over the years and I have a netflix account that shows the numbers so its a little scary. :o
I was thinking a thread that recommends movies you enjoyed?

Not new but I just viewed it in it's entirety, and I can recommend:

The People vs Larry Flint.

The good the bad and the ugly of freedom of speech in the USA.

This is more of a non recommendation but I made it through to the end of the directors cut of Natural Born Killers. There are many cool/funny moments in between the heinous and unrelenting violence. A lot of actors I really like. But overall its a movie where I repeat my mantra. "Keanu would never do this movie...".

CUBE

I watched the whole thing on YouTube. It's brilliant. They had a tiny budget and filmed the entire thing in a six by six by six room, and out of that managed to create one of the most intense, nerve-wracking psychological thrillers I've ever seen.

It's in my top 10 films of all time.

Here's Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf-ZwM-3X1w
and the rest are linked there.

Oh, and Duncan Jone's 2009 debut Moon. :D

yup CUBE is good ..

thumbs up for NATURAL BORN KILLERS ..( and No Keanu wouldn't do it , but i wish he would but.. :) )

Tron has to be watched for sure (both of em)

my recommendation for today :

-for JOY DIVISION lovers : Control.not PERFECT, but decent enough . SLOW MOVIE ALERT :D

- Franklyn... the movie is just okay , 6/10 for me , but I liked the concept : >>> from IMDB >> "a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It's the story of four lost souls, divided by two parallel worlds,"

-and one of TOP 10 of last two decades : Run Lola Run

The Right Stuff is a pretty good movie to pick up. A warning: it's 3.21 hours long, so don't start watching it late at night. *made that mistake*

Not everybody's cup of tea, (or sweet lime) but I adore Darjeeling Limited.

@ARYA : I adore "Darjeeling Limited " as well .. maybe becoz I'm fond of a weird kind of Idiocy :) .

so then maybe you like these (If You Haven't watched them yet , which I doubt) :"Welcome to Collinwood"
( It's not THAT brilliant , but very good and enjoyable IMO with the taste of classic Comedy in it ).
and of course , Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" ,and "Snatch"

and my non-personal recommendation is :"Network" (1976)

...while I liked the visuals and the Bale of Equilibrium... sorry, but the story itself and the dialogue don't hold a candle to the Matrix Trilogy. ;)

thanks for the thread, it reminded me of so many titles I mean to watch since... several years now, but always got carried away by something else...

You didn't like the story, though? It was all about the plot, the conflict. Yes the visuals were quite cool, Bale was quite hot, but the message! It was all about what horrors might lie ahead of mankind, described by Orwell and Huxley and other great writers and philosophers with intense insight and foresight. It was very deep and meaningful. I would have thought this crowd would love it ;)

I guess the Matrix was better, but it's hard to compare a standalone movie to a whole trilogy, though.
