"They finish up and everyone is dead tired," Dubost said. "Keanu went around the winery and found every single extra, introduced himself and thanked them for being a part of the whole experience."
Another time, Dubost said, the actor ducked out after lunch on a special errand. "He left, ostensibly to have a cigarette, but instead went and found our trash can and picked up everyone's trash," Dubost said.

When I was working on the UWS, one of my delivery guys accidentally backed his scooter into a parked car in front of the restaurant. I went out to help, since the driver didn’t speak much English, and it turned out the car belonged to Keanu Reeves. He helped us pick the scooter up, and when I asked if we could exchange insurance information (because the front of the car was pretty banged up), he kept telling us not to worry about it and put his hand on the driver’s shoulder and said “I just want to make sure you’re okay, man. Are you okay?” And he was so sincere about it and so kind that I decided in that moment I would always defend Keanu Reeves at all costs. He is an excellent man.

My wife and I were dining at Nobu’s in Honolulu and sitting across from us was Keanu or at least I thought it was. We kept talking about whether it was him or not and finally, I decided to throw some old school Bill & Ted at him.
I stood up and threw my arms up into the motion of an air guitar, my wife is begging me to sit back down, and I pointed at the guy who may be Keanu Reeves, and said, “Most Excellent.”
He stood up and did it back at me. Then we both had a moment and pointed at each other. I sent him another of whatever it was he was drinking. It was a cucumber sake martini. That was the end of it.
Or so I thought.
He left before we finished our meal. By the time we were done, dessert came that we didn’t order. We thought, “oh, must be compliments of the chef.” Then the bill never came. When we asked for it, our waitress said Keanu Reeves took care of it.
IT WAS REALLY HIM. And he left a note. It said, “thanks for the refresh. Keanu.”
When I finally saw him again years later, because of work. I brought it up. Then he air guitar and said, “most excellent. I remember. At Nobu’s. Thanks for the drink.” We chatted a bit and I got an autograph for my mum because she’s a huge Keanu fan. Then that was that.

Back when I first moved to NYC, I got a job as a theater usher. We were all young, 18-20 or so, and it was heavily impressed upon us that we needed to treat the theatergoers with TOTAL respect at ALL times or risk our jobs. As such, we were all totally underprepared for the drunk guy who tried to steal a bottle of wine from the lobby bar during intermission. We were trying to politely get the bottle back, but he was growing loud and belligerent. Since the second act was now starting, this was a countdown to all of us being in trouble.
Then Keanu walks up. Calmly charms the guy. Slips the usher behind the bar cash to cover the bottle, without the guy even noticing, and walks him back in to his seat like it’s a normal thing he does every day. He didn’t know the guy, didn’t know any of us, but effortlessly deescalated the situation and quite probably saved some jobs that night.
Just a wandering do-gooder, this man.

Actor Keanu Reeves helped a Sonoma County couple go viral on Reddit when they snagged him for a pre-wedding photo before their Santa Cruz ceremony over the weekend.
Santa Rosa's Jarrod Camara and Leslie Walker, big fans of "The Matrix" actor, spotted Reeves at the bar of the Dream Inn just seconds before their Saturday ceremony.
The groom’s mother, Darlette Hayman, snapped the photo on her iPhone.
“He was totally awesome. He shook everybody’s hand and did a crazy pose. They were stoked!” said the groom’s brother and best man, Jordan Camara.
The picture was discovered by Reddit user @u/unknown_human and shared onto Reddit thread “KeanuBeingAwesome” on Monday with caption “Keanu crashed this couple’s wedding.” It has 21,100 upvotes and 357 comments from users as of Wednesday afternoon.
User ConstantGradStudent loved the image, and commented “Probably took away the nerves too. Nice job Keanu.”
Jordan Camara, found the viral Reddit post and was quick to correct the caption: “Brother of the groom here. We actually approached him while he was minding his own business at the bar and asked to meet and take a picture. […] He was awesome and shook our hands and took the pic with the bride and groom and we didn't see him again for the rest of the wedding. No ‘crashing’ involved at all.”
Other wedding guests jumped in to share the experience.
“Keanu was super cool and seemed generally pumped about it. Our friends who got married minutes later were definitely pumped! Source: I was right behind the camera when this was taken,” commented user TheWord707.
“My bf also got to shake his hand and thank him for all the hard work he puts into his movies. Needless to say these two will be married forever,” added TracyTorque14.
Jarrod and Leslie Camara are currently honeymooning on Maui. The picture was a great warm-up to the ceremony for the two, according to Jordan.
“You can’t buy memories like that,” he said.
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for Reeves who is promoting his newest movie, "Destination Wedding,” which hit theaters Aug. 24.

As someone who's been in the industry almost 25 years (gag) and has worked on a few projects with Keanu, I'd have to say quite the contrary.

Keanu is what every actor should aspire to be. Kind, laid back, personable, humble, fantastic towards his fans and a truly dedicated actor. I've never seen someone immerse themselves into learning a character and learning skills of that role (i.e. - guns, martial arts, etc) as much as Keanu. On a more impressive note, he's never satisfied and keeps learning. And learning. And learning some more. His training regiment is 2nd to none. Not only are his action sequences beyond measure but so is his acting skill. He's a trained Shakespearean actor, did you know?

Best of all, ANYONE that has met him or has worked with him speaks volumes about him.

He's one of those actors that make me proud to be Canadian. :-)

A Story About Keanu Being Awesome

My boyfriend works next to Gold Coast Studios and they were filming part of John Wick 3 there. Keanu has a trailer, and every time he’d come or go from set, or come out and smoke a cigarette, he’d take a minute or three and take pictures with the employees at my boyfriend’s office who would be out there trying to get a glimpse of him. My boyfriend, knowing how much of a fan I am, tried for days to get a picture of him but kept missing him. Then one day, he and co-worker “Elle” were the only two out there and they were told that Keanu wasn’t coming out. As they were walking away, suddenly there he is! They hurry over, calling his name. Boyfriend said that the poor guy looked utterly exhausted and just DONE. At that point he’d been filming for about 7 hours and apparently it was a lot of action sequences. It was also one of the last days he was going to be on set there. At first he kept walking and very clearly didn’t want to be bothered by fans, and Boyfriend and Elle were turning around to leave him be when he stopped, Keanu waves them over, and let’s them each take a picture with him. He didn’t say much, but the fact that he stopped at all when he so clearly just wanted to go inside and just finish his day but did a picture instead was just so cool of him.

I doubt he will ever see this, but that picture with my boyfriend made me so happy, so thank you Keanu Reeves for being so awesome!

Keanu Reeves! I met him once at my friend’s party. Keanu was in his movie “Thumbsucker”. I guess Keanu is one is the NICEST people in Hollywood. There are stories all over Hollywood about his compassion and kindness. My other friend Fernando was a production assistant on “Thumbsucker”. He and Keanu became buddies, Fern would call him “K Dawg”. One day I guess Fern was talking about never having been to New York and Keanu overheard him. A few months later after filming wrapped Fern was surprised to get a call from Keanu. Keanu asked “What’s your address?”. Fern was kind of bewildered as to why Keanu was asking for his address. A few days later Fern got a envelope in the mail from Keanu, inside was a first class ticket to New York

Mine is Keanu taking off his motorcycle helmet to buy a movie ticket from me and ask how the soup was. (We were at movie theater with a restaurant.) I told him it was good but maybe soup wasn’t the best choice in the summer. He agreed and put the helmet back on and got snacks.

For some insight, I work in downtown Los Angeles and was walking with my coworkers to grab lunch and saw a bunch of trailers and saw some guy smoking a cigarette by himself with his hat low but just enough to see his face. Timidly went up and said hello and told him I love Speed and John Wick and basically everything he’s ever done. He was very quiet but seemed thankful to meet me. I totally hated to be that guy but it’s not every day you get to meet the chosen one. So I asked for a selfie and went about my day. Made my whole week.

My Keanu Story
Fan Encounter

I just found this subreddit and saw this post and my memory of meeting Keanu came flooding back. I was on vacation with my family in Paris and we had just climbed the Eiffel Tower. When we came back down my mom swore she saw Keanu go into a trailer nearby and she got super excited. She went and knocked on the trailer door (to much protest and embarrassment on our part), and a man that was definitely not Keanu came out. My mom asked if Keanu was in the trailer and he said yes but Mr. Reeves had had a long day of filming and was very tired. And then Keanu comes out and is like “No no it’s fine, always nice to see some friendly faces”. And then he says, in the coolest and chillest manner which my mom quotes to this day and has become a joke within our family— “How’s that jet lag treatin you?”— just dripping with swagger. He was incredibly nice to us and down to earth and took a picture and even signed a random piece of paper from our hotel. Of course my mom saved both.

Keanu came to the movie theater I worked at in Sydney in 2001. He was working on the Matrix series at the time. It’s a quiet, Wednesday morning — almost nobody is seeing movies.

I’m working the box office, bored as hell and suddenly this dude walks up in jeans, a leather jacket and a horse riding helmet. A full ass, weird equestrian looking helmet. It takes me a solid 30 seconds to ignore the helmet and realize it’s Keanu Reeves

He wants to buy a ticket for “From Hell,” the Johnny Depp movie. I’m so fucking star struck I do what any sensible 16-year-old does and tell him I’d like to give him my employee discount. This means he needs to sign my sheet and therefore I have his autograph

“I don’t work here,” Keanu says. Seemingly confused by my offer. I’m flustered and just charge him the normal price. Kicking myself after for not getting his autograph

2 minutes later there’s a knock on the door behind me that leads into the box office. I assume it’s my manager. It’s Keanu.

“I realized you probably wanted my autograph,” he says. “So I signed this.” He hands me a receipt from the concessions stand that he signed on the back. He then casually throws an ice cream cone in the trash can and sees his movie

I realize later that he bought an ice cream cone he didn’t want, just to get receipt paper so he could scribble his autograph for a 16-year-old idiot.

Guy I know was involved in a movie K did. At the crew screening lights were going down and K realized friend was in the bathroom. As the universal logo came up he yelled stop the film, which they did, and we all waited for the end of bathroom break to start the film.A swell chap

I, like many others, have witnessed his graciousness. It was 2003 and I was attending the “Matrix Revolutions” premiere party at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles with my teenage nephew. Mr. Reeves was quietly standing in a corner of the terrace, and a publicist asked if we wanted to meet him. Mr. Reeves introduced himself to my nephew, shook his hand and asked if he enjoyed high school. (Mr. Reeves dropped out.) They talked about science and scuba diving. Mr. Reeves suggested a favorite book he should read; I cannot recall the name. A few years later, I saw Mr. Reeves at a party. He remembered my nephew without prompting and asked how he was.

Emily Horn, 17, had the opportunity during the summer to be on the New Orleans movie set of “Bill and Ted 3” with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter and then returned home to find out there was a donor to give her a needed new kidney.
Emily’s mother, Deborah Horn, said that her daughter was born with a rare urinary tract condition that eventually lead to kidney disease.
She said Emily endured several surgeries when she was younger to try and correct the issue, but her kidneys continued to fail, causing the need for a transplant.
“(Emily) was on the verge of starting dialysis,” Deborah said.
Facing the need for a kidney transplant, however, didn’t dampen Emily’s spirits when she learned she would be traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana, to meet two of her favorite actors on the set of the “Bill and Ted” film franchise.
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are reprising their roles in the third installment of the popular “Bill and Ted” saga.
The trip was made possible through the Make-A-Wish program and the Make-A-Wish New Jersey chapter, located in Monroe Township, Middlesex County.
According to that organization, since 1983, Make-A-Wish New Jersey has brought hope, strength and joy to more than 10,000 seriously-ill children throughout all 21 counties in every city, town, and municipality in the Garden State.
Deborah said that Emily was referred to the program by one of her doctors, and the wish was granted.
Emily said the experience was “amazing,” with Reeves and Winter.
“(Reeves) is a thousand times nicer in person than people say he is online,” Emily said.
Emily said the star made her feel right at home on the movie set, taking time out to sit and talk with her between takes.
She said he has kept in touch since the visit, communicating with her by email.
When she returned from the visit, she learned that there was a kidney for her from a 20-year-old male donor, and she immediately went in for the transplant.
Reeves stayed in contact, sending flowers and a hard copy of the movie script to her.
Deborah said the doctors and staff at the hospital were excited about Emily’s famous friend keeping tabs on her recovery.
“I can’t begin to express my gratitude (to the donor’s family),” Deborah said. “It was such an unselfish act (to donate his organs).”
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 113,000 people were waiting for a transplant as of January, and some 36,528 transplants were performed in 2018.
The department said that 20 people needing a transplant die each day, and that even though 95 percent of adults in the country support organ donations, only 58 percent sign up to donate organs, and another person is added to the waiting list every 10 minutes.
The department estimates that each organ donor can save eight lives.
Emily said that she was excited about returning to school, and getting back to a more normal life.
Deborah said her recovery is coming along and that early tests look good.

I’ve worked with plenty of name actors and Keanu Reeves is right at the top as one of the most giving people on the planet.
On John Wick 3, we were filming in Grand Central terminal on a Sunday night/Monday morning, and about 1:30AM, we had already put in a full night’s work setting up a fight scene. All the while, the terminal was open and people were catching trains and arriving on trains, and of course, watching us.
We had a break in filming to reset some cameras to a different angle, which meant resetting lights and other stuff. It was going to take about a half hour, maybe 45 minutes.
Most actors would have gone back to a trailer and taken a nap, but Reeves saw a cluster of fans at the end of the hallway, and walked over and spent every single one of those minutes, signing autographs, snapping selfies and talking to people.
His sister has battled leukemia for over a decade now. His daughter died in utero. He’s had tragedy after tragedy befall him, including the car crash that killed Jennifer Symes and the motorcycle crash that left him with a permanent limp.
Meanwhile, he’s a brilliant and well-read man who gave up part of his percentage on the Matrix films to help pay the special effects and stunt people more (estimates run he was out of pocket from $40 million to almost $100 million no that)
The man has 99 problems. Money ain’t one of them.

I wrote a fan letter to Keanu Reeves when I was 12. My family were about to move in with my grandparents. I remember sitting on the patio of the house we lived in until the bank re-possessed it, sealing this letter with a Greenpeace sticker. The impetus for the letter may have been him, as I’d just seen River’s Edge. It may have been about what was going on in my life – the undercurrent of financial trouble, the itching of new breasts, a search for emotional volume control.

I wrote the letter because I was always afraid that I’d see Keanu Reeves and not be able to express to him what he meant to me, and I thought that if I wrote it down, it would make sense. I never got a reply, but I never again worried about running into him. Twenty-five years later, I was asked to work with him on a screenplay. At some point, I jokingly told him I’d written him fan mail and he’d never replied. A few days later he wrote to apologise for not replying and to explain that he’d been a teenager, overwhelmed by new fame, and had responded by retreating.

As you mail your letter, it’s important to remember not just that everyone around you is fighting their own internal battle you know nothing about, but this: even when people don’t reply, they can still hear you.

Additional background story: I saw him chilling on a picnic table in some random office park in West LA drinking a Diet Coke and just hanging out. I asked him if he was Keanu Reeves and he said “Yea, yea I am” and then I asked him for the selfie. He was super friendly and chill.
