I, too, am praying for a second Constantine. It was the first movie I snuck out to see, even though I'd seen it already with my mom. That year I did the most badass Gabriel costume, from the final scenes of the movie with the weird cutout outfit and the full wings...and naturally didn't get a single photo of it. This is still one of my favorite Keanu films of all time. It's probably my #3 favorite film overall.

As for lamenting movies that have been shelved, I'm still really upset about Cowboy Bebop. Like, deeply upset. I want to see Keanu as Spike SO BADLY.

I saw it with my daughter too! It's one of her favs. But then I went on to see it with friends and then I would go after work even if it was halfway over. I think I racked up 10 or 12 viewings in the theater (?!). Ok, I said it out loud. Now I will shut up. :)
BTW that costume sounds way cool. Did you do the hospital bracelets that said "sorrow" etc?

I did! My mom was an Army medic at the time, and snagged me a bunch of blank bracelets from the hospital so I made my own paper inserts (after researching what the hell was actually printed on them!) and had three or four on each wrist.

If the second Constantine is going to happen, Keanu needs to be in it. There's no other way.

I love Keanu's acting in the film. Gawwwwh. He lives it. He IS Constantine. Most of the time I even feel it tops his performance as Neo Anderson (which is, like, a very daring statement). I loved the style. The orange glow. The worn-off suit. The cigarettes. The gloomy atmosphere. John Constantine's sarcasm and his baaad behaviour.

"When I was 11, The Exorcist really tripped me out, really tripped me out."

Just thought I might drop that in because I love that he played Constantine, after he said that 13 years before he actually made the film. I love that fact. I'm not someone who'd say she loves watching films related to exorcism in any way, but I LOVED Constantine. And I bet if Nicholas Cage had played the role, I would have hated the film. Nothing against Nicholas, he just plays in that kind of genre too often. He's like... It's like Will Smith as Neo Anderson, if that makes sense. And actually, I find the thought of Will Smith as Neo more appealing than Nicholas Cage as John Constantine. ^^

I think Constantine has grown on many of the the original naysayers out there. There was so much opposition to the idea of a non-British, non-blonde guy playing Constantine that it overshadowed the obvious qualities of the movie. While I understand where that criticism came from, I still think people should be grown-up enough to understand why Hollywood places original stories/characters in new places, with actors who don't look like the character. Sure, transplanting something very British to another country is daring, and it could have gone terribly wrong. Still, it seems that repeated viewings may have worn down the naysayers' opposition to it, so I'm hoping that there'll eventually be a C2.

I believe Keanu was perfect for the role. OK, I never read the Hellblazer comics, but his Constantine was very believable. I can understand why fans of the comics would not appreciate it, but it's like Harry Potter. I was never fully satistisfied with the actors they chose for the films, so doing a film in a very different way seems more appealing to me.

Hahaha! I never saw this video clip before -- it's Keanu and Shia promoting Constantine, and they're actually funny. It's not often we get to see Keanu joking over something Constantine related. Makes me realise that, even though Connie was a moody bastard and the movie itself had a bleak theme, there was actually quite a lot of funny stuff in it.

I love that one Q&A TV interview (that apparently doesn't exist online anymore, as 6records deleted his or her Youtube account :O) with Keanu and Shia. Ever since, "the holy shotgun" has become part of my vocabulary.

Keanu loved that film, he surely did. He had style in that film.

I was viewing the film again today and when it came to the bathtub scene a thought came to mind. Sure sure sure angela is in the bathtub at that moment, BUT who is usually in that bathtub and sans clothes on a more day to day basis? Now that would be something to see.
I guess this is how fanfic starts, so I should stop now. :X

Regarding that promo for Constantine, it was shown in between an episode of South Park that was particularly hysterical, about the devil.
