@Luca, agree that comparisons are nonsensical. I've seen it in English now and its too much fun to hear him belch. teehee. Much better than that sad little belch in the bathroom.

@Luca, agree that comparisons are nonsensical.

I'm sorry Arya, did I miss something? Where in Luca's post did she say comparisons are nonsensical?

I was responding to your comment "This is truly THE edgiest movie Keanu has made to date", isn't that comparison, when you position the movie against everything he's ever made before it? I was just having a little discussion, no need to be so dismissive (and indirectly, at that) just cause my opinion contradicts yours.

And Luca, I agree that there is something more allegorical about MoPI, it definitely plays with dreams and surreality. But I was thinking of risky and edginess more of what the actors had to do, and how much they were exposing themselves by doing these roles. Also, in that it is dealing with young, homeless prostitutes hustling in bus station bathrooms and the like and there are some pretty disturbing stories told about some of the hustlers experiences...

I didn't, not literally :)
but I said I won't name names ;)
sorry, I tend to be a bit cryptical sometimes. will try to do better.

true, that. Guess I overlooked that aspect. Thanks for pointing it out.

@ Softie, I still find GenUm to be the edgiest movie he ever made. The comparisons comment was regarding not naming names. Sort of a rephrasing for Shakespeare's "All comparisons are odious" Sorry to confuse you so indirectly.

Now everyone interested can see it. @tini4, I usually turn on subs so I don't miss any dialogue. It was an interesting experience to see a new Keanu Reeves movie in a dubbed language. But of course, I want a legally distributed copy for any extra features. Blu-ray would be nice...

argh.
When will these people ever learn.

...A tiny part of me actually looks forward to the day when movie studios and other entertainment producers are successful in stamping out piracy altogether, and then get confused when all their revenues drastically plummet.

A while back I read an article mentioning a study that showed how the most prolific media pirates bought about ten times as much original media as the average person, or something like that.

When I read the letter in that response, it was revealing of the problem. Those that use the term "moron" are often quite moronic. Isn't it ironic? :)

tini - many, many, many thanks for that link . :)

oh, what a world of difference intelligible dialogue makes...

It amuses me that, when watching the film with the Thai dubbing, I got some of the details wrong (the girls' names, the 'true' owner of the cat :D) but somehow got the overall idea (and picture) right.
intuition ;)

"So where's the clarity?"
It's in the camera. It's when watching the world through a lens.

[...]

I still have to figure out a few things - such as what are those paper slips in the envelope and just who are Charles and Lizzy.

But with each viewing I love this movie more and more.

@LucaM, I believe the slips of paper are the receipts from the jobs the girls have done and John so thoughtfully/obsessively put in alphabetical order. Charles is the pimp and that actor is also on Rescue Me (I think). Lizzy might be the woman with the desk that sets up the jobs?
I love it more every time I watch it too. Like you said from the beginning, I also can see why he did this movie and why it did not get distribution.

Did I mention how nice it would be to have Reeves doing commentary from beginning to end without anyone else? On the blu-ray dvd 2 disc set that includes all the footage shot, including rehearsals and outtakes. It would be nice. :)
