laying this one out here from LucaM's post above. I guess I will be buying Elle next month.

The hunky actor has surfaced to support his latest independent passion project, Generation Um..., which hits theaters today. Reeves, joined by Adelaide Clemens and Bojana Novakovic, plays one-third of this captivating, dysfunctional "family" trio. The film is riddled with generational and philosophical crossroads.
Set in Manhattan, the "life as art" style film includes some off-screen bonding, as well: real NYC bar nights, Reeves reading sonnets to the female actresses, and him stripping down to support his fellow thespian during a difficult scene. It all adds to the palpable, emotional ménage à trois chemistry onscreen.
At last nights L.A. premiere and after-party for the film at The Roosevelt Hotel, Reeves said to us, "Sit down, sit down, sit down." We obliged...
Age:
48
Provenance:
Beirut-Sydney-New York City-Toronto
On his reaction to Generation Um...'s twist ending:
When I read it, it had quite an emotional wallop. The film seems like this quest for intimacy, or this quest for knowing. It doesn't have an exerted emotion - except when John and Violet try to come together - but at the end of the film, it's surprisingly moving. That's one reason why I really liked it, the way that Mark [Mann], the writer/director, played with structure. There's a bit of mystery to it, and then, when you discover what is happening, you feel something.
On his character John's role in the trio:
He's a kind of witness; he's of service.
On why people meet in broken places:
Seeking to share. Seeking for help. Seeking for comfort. Seeking to help someone. Seeking to comfort someone. It makes for good dramas. [But] we also meet in great places too. In celebration, right?
On directing a movie within Generation Um...:
It was my first time [shooting]. When I heard that I was going to be able to shoot [the footage he shoots is actually in the film] instead of a cinematographer, it sounded really interesting and it was something I was really enthusiastic about. If was fun. You get to learn the character. You see what John sees. You see what John's interested in. He was kind of like an archeologist in a way, as he goes into [the girls'] apartment. [He] deals with Violet, who wants to be on a talk show. [He] deals with Mia who's doing whatever she's doing - power, confession, seduction, non-seduction. I love that moment when John sneaks into Mia's room and she's on the chair. And she's just like a lion, [projecting] "This isn't on my terms. F--- off." It's one of my favorite shots.
On aging (or, conversely, not aging at all):
How do I confront aging? With a wonder and a terror. Yeah, I'll say that. Wonder and terror. Mortality is a bitch, but life is great.
On misunderstood gender lines:
[Men] are vulnerable and emotional creatures.
On reality TV and celebrity gossip:
There's different context. How much time and attention are you paying to it? What is it doing? Is it a kind of entertainment? It can go from there to absolute weirdness. But there's also just wanting to know how the other is. What is someone else's life like? [You can find out by reading] a biography or [watching] a gossip channel. It just depends on what you are looking for. I think there's fantasy involved. Association.
On rumors that there is a Point Break remake in the works:
I think it's exciting. [On Bill and Ted's Third Excellent Adventures] They're writing a script. That's all I know. They show us stuff every once in awhile.

"A little more love for Keanu please DM. Top of the acting food chain for years, stays away from scandal, seems like a genuinely nice person, and looks great at 48. And your article is about his boots. tsk."

I think they just summed up the internet. :|

In closing, I think you should nominate Keanu. Yes - you read that correctly: Nominate Keanu Reeves for Best Actor. If there ever was a time to say 'thank you' to an underrated actor who's movies have employed thousands and earned billions (and who happens to still be a kind human being), this is it. A nomination for Keanu - for THIS film - would also send a strong message that quiet, contemplative cinema is still a part of the American artistic experience. 'generation Um...' is Keanu's 'Last Tango In Paris'. To all reading this in the Academy or Hollywood Foreign Press, it's time to give the man a nod.

Anyone looked at the extended scenes and commentary yet? It is just about killing me. Lot of Keanu. But, of course, he is careful when he speaks. I can hardly get a good quote out of it.

I was thinking all dvds have subtitles now but there are none. However the extended scenes and commentary are taking up my days and nights. The commentary is with Adelaide Mark Keanu and a producer woman not Lemore. Keanu states that Bojana was in Austral i a and could not be there. Of course there is endless discussion on plot and character archs and motivations...They laugh a lot about how ott violet is, but perfect for the part. They say a lot of things that I could not make out over the sound of the movie so I'll have to listen again, and again. In the extended scenes Keanu breaks character at least twice. There is a lot more of him car dancing but without sound. The extended scene of him taking off his pants and getting into bed, setting the alarm, and getting up 4 hours later is a little too much fun for me. There is a lot more of him shooting vid of violet dancing. Keanu flat out says they are in love. During the scene with Mia on the bed in the black tights he is clearly teasing her, calling her a "bad girl" on the commentary. I could go on but I don't want to take the fun out of it for anyone else. Be aware that Keanu talks but not nearly as much as we would like. What else is new? :)

I don't know if this interview has been posted, but here's my favorite part:

Keanu Reeves: Well that was a good piece of bread. You made some nice dough so… you’re a good baker! And I was happy to be a part of that. What a nice recipe.

Mark Mann: You’re my favorite bag of flour.
