Thanks, Nunu. On peering about yesterday, however, I may not be entirely correct in my assumption. Dude does own a phone, it may even be smart ;-)

He seemed to be using a blackberry for the longest time.

47 Ronin is now out on Itunes, here in the US. It's $14.99.
Not sure if I need it on my ipad or not. I will for sure have the dvd the first week of April. Just finishing up Joan Vinge's novelization. That book has so much more Kai torture that it was hard for me. It really sounded like only a magical person could have survived it. cry.

I think they're trying to kill all of us.

Arya, I'm reading the book and it is hard but there's nothing in it that isn't there in Keanu's portrayal of Kai - in his eyes, his bearing, his demeanor. Cry.

Once I got to the rescue from the Dutch island I am crazy for the book! AND I got the itunes download of the movie so I am deep into it now. For me it's savoring every bit of the Life of Kai.

from the book

"Kai watched in fascination as the troupe combined rehearsal and advertisement of their skills even as they traveled, entertaining any other travelers or the people of towns they passed through, at the same time distracting themselves from the boredom of their endless journeying. He knew the social position of actors was no better than his own, and that among themselves their vanity and competitive envy was as legendary as that of the samurai. But still the sight of them made him wish that in some other life he would be reborn as an actor, if only for a few precious moments like this..."

Shout out Joan Vinge, talk to me.

Yes, Arya, it is becoming more bearable. Though there's less explicit agony in the film, doesn't it still make you cry? That defeated look when he kills the Kirin and is ignored and shamed? The scene in the hut shown so - oh my- graphically in that picture?

One scene in the book that I really miss in the movie, is the waterfall shower. And he smells like spearmint.

This passage from the book, just before the death of the kirin really got to me.

"As its head settled lower to the ground, the kirin looked back at him (Kai) in resignation, without rancor, as if it was recalling a peace it had known in what must now seem like another life. Despite the agony it must be in, trapped in this ravaged body, Kai could still feel the presence of the noble creature it had once been. Its mind was returning as its eyes grew dim and approaching death released it from the unspeakable curse that had been laid upon it.
Its suffering was about to end; he felt its spirit passing through him toward the great spiral of time that was always cycling into the future. Filled with compassion and remorse, Kai raised unsteady hands to it mottled forehead in a futile gesture of apology. Its dark eyes watered, almost as if it was shedding tears, as he struggled to remember the ancient words of a blessing to ease its passage out of this world, back into the spirit realm."

Also notable for the backstory is that the kirin is a peaceful creature but of course this one was cursed by that witch.

I think it's a combo BluRay, DVD, digital pack. That's what I'll be getting (well! besides the home theater setup for my birthday :-)

yes, but since I don't have a Blu-Ray player, I bought the 'simple' DVD version. Which has only two bonus materials out of five.
eh, so it goes. marketing strategies and all that.

Well, that just stinks. I'm getting a Blu Ray player because they've come down in price quite a lot.
